Why Road bridge over deep gorge
Overall type Arch - often referred to as deck stiffened. This just means that the bridge deck has sufficient strength and stiffness to take the load on the bridge as a beam supported by the vertical spandrels that bear directly on the arch below and stiffen it. As a consequence the arch may be slimmer than it otherwise would be.
